Congratulations to Coach Belville, Coach Sweet, and the high school girls basketball team on their supersectional win last night and making it to the state finals. This is a remarkable achievement that we should all be proud of!
The team's first game will take place this Thursday at 9:30 am at ISU’s CEFCU (formerly Redbird) arena. Here are some important details regarding the event and its impact on our school schedule:
- Due to the early game time, all regular bus routes will run 15 minutes earlier on Thursday morning to ensure that fan buses can reach Normal in time for the game. Buses will be returning to school after the 9:30 am game.
- School doors will open at 7:45 am to bus riders; however, the elementary car rider drop-off line will remain at 8:00 am as usual.
- Fan buses will be available for middle and high school students exclusively.
- Tickets for middle and high school students are priced at $11 and can be purchased through the school. Permission slips and money for game tickets must be submitted by Wednesday (tomorrow).
- Parents who wish to take their elementary child(ren) to the game are welcome to do so. However, we kindly request that you call the elementary office in advance so that their attendance can be marked as an excused absence.
- Parents and community members can purchase tickets online via the following link: goredbirds.com/tickets (click on IHSA Girls Basketball March Madness).
- Thursday will be celebrated as an "Orange and Black Day" to show our support for the team.
- Please note that the 6-12 band concert originally scheduled for Thursday evening has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 pm.
In terms of the game schedule, if the team loses the first game, they will play again on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. However, if they emerge victorious, they will advance to the championship game on Saturday at 11:00 am.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our high school girls basketball team. Let's rally behind them and show our unwavering support as they compete in the state finals. Go IB TIGERS!
